How To Clear A Locker Combination
We get it: sometimes you need new combinations for your lockers. Whether you need to reassign lockers to new employees or students—or you simply forgot the combination—changing or resetting combination locks is much easier than you might think! Most resettable combination locks come pre-set with multiple combinations. To reset the combination lock to the next combination, simply grab your control key and follow the instructions for your lock:
Master Locks:
- Open the locker using your control key. It should do a quarter turn.
- With the key still in place and the locker open, turn the combination dial completely around at least once, stopping on 0.
- Press and hold the button on the back of the lock case.
- While holding the button down, use your other hand to rotate the combination dial to the right 2 notches, so that it lands on the number 2 (It's not far, so make sure to not go past it!).
- Release the button.
- Turn the dial to the right until you hear a click. The combination has now been reset.
- Close the locker, turn the key back a quarter turn, and remove it.
- Use your chart to find the next combination and test it to make sure that the combination has correctly changed. If it doesn't work, try the old combination again. If by some chance neither work, systematically work through your combination chart until you find the right one.
- Update your records with the new combination.
Zephyr Locks:
- Spin the combination dial completely around twice clockwise, landing on any number.
- Open the door with your master key and leave it unlocked
- Firmly press and hold the button on the back of the lock case.
- With the button pressed in, use your other hand to turn the dial clockwise 3 numbers.
- Release the button.
- Return the key to its original position.
- Slowly turn the dial clockwise until you hear or feel a click. (Note: The click normally occurs anywhere from 2 to 20 numbers. When changing from the 7th combination back to the 1st, this typically takes ½ to ¾ turn.)
- Remove the key from the lock and test the next combination to make sure the combination lock has reset. If it doesn't work, repeat the process beginning on a different number. Should you get lost regarding which combination you are on, you can either systematically test each combination or continue to reset the lock until it takes ½ to ¾ turn to click, at which point you will be back to the first combination
Fully Resettable Electronic Locks:
Looking for more customized resettable combination locks rather than changing pre-set combinations? Perhaps you should consider our selection of electronic locker locks! Each electronic lock system has a unique programming key (sold separately) that allows for a full combination reset, allowing each user to select their own personal combination. The locks can also be programmed for temporary use, meaning that the combination will reset after the user unlocks their belongings—perfect for gyms, spas, pools, or anywhere else that lockers are used for short times by multiple people.
And there you have it! We hope this helps you to change the combination on your locks, allowing full use for many occupants to come.
